Cheyenne Shaffer

Writing. Cats. Coffee.

Cheyenne became enamored with all things weird and fantastical at a young age, and she herself is becoming weirder and more fantastical every year. She’s a graduate of the Odyssey Writing Workshop and the Never-Ending Odyssey. In her spare time, she works as a relief emergency veterinarian to fund her addiction to books, cats, and fancy coffee.

She is currently attending Kent State University to complete a Master’s of Fine Arts degree in Creative Writing. This is one of first major steps on her journey to become not only a successful author but to hopefully guide others in the way of speculative fiction writing as a teacher!

“Writing is not life, but I think that sometimes it can be a way back to life.”

-Stephen King

After graduating from Cornell University as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, I worked in the field full-time for a few years, but it wasn’t my true calling. I got stuck in a rut of long hours, difficult decisions, and high-stress situations, and I could never find the time or energy to be creative. This led to a profound sense of burnout, which is when I began asking myself the real question: what would make me happy? While I will always love animals, my true passion is (and always will be) writing.
